Is Bam Taking Credit For BongBong’s Free Education Bill?

It was already during the administration of the current President Rodrigo Duterte when the bill Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act was filed.

You are probably familiar with this because there was once an issue that Bam Aquino just took the credit from the president. However, that was debunked when it was said that the president just signed the bill.

Who really filed it?

The bill was first filed by Senator Ralph Recto, he was the principal AUTHOR and principally sponsored by senator Bam Aquino, Co sponsored by senator Chiz Escudero and was sign by President Rodrigo Duterte on August 3 , 2017.

This means that Bam Aquino is not even the mastermind, he just used it for his campaign. I’m sure you were also bombarded with his “Free education” ad that was everywhere this past election.

Where is BongBong in the picture?

If this is the case, then where does Bong Bong Marcos fall into the picture?

A screenshot from the website of the Senate of the Philippines is now circulating on social media.

In the screenshot, it can be seen that a press release dated last 2015 shows that Marcos filed the free education bill but was rejected by the then president Noynoy Aquino.

Here is what the caption says:

“Act 2015 Marcos proposed it but rejected by former president Noynoy Aquino

Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act was filed first by Senator Ralph Recto, he was the principal AUTHOR and principally sponsored by senator Bam aquino, Co sponsored by senator Chiz Escudero and was sign by President Rodrigo Duterte on August 3 , 2017 the bill is supported by almost the whole MEMBERS of the Congress so literally ginamit lang ni Bam yung free college program para sa campaign niya . This is a political advertisment wala tayong utang na loob sakanya kasi hindi lang siya ang nagpush ng batas na yun . Wag tayong bobo . Be enlighten mga ser
Dapat din natin pasalamatan si bong bong marcos, and PDuterte.”

Does this mean we have been fooled by Bam Aquino?

Let’s look deeper

While this may bring us all to conclude that Bam didn’t really deserve the credit, some people did research and found out that from the list of bills passed by Marcos, the free education bill cannot be found.

In Bong Bong’s website, you can search for everything that is connected to the education sector and the free tertiary education is not on the list.

Given these facts, who do you think really started it?

We think that whoever started it, Noynoy Aquino rejected the first bills, and it was only when Duterte was already a president that the bill was signed.

So whoever filed it, it is still thanks to the president. What do you think?
