Four entrepreneurs from the Philippines made it to the Forbes’ Magazine’s “30 under 30 Asia” list, which features 300 outstanding innovators and entrepreneurs, all under the age of 30.
Released on Tuesday, April 2nd, Forbes 30 under 30 Asia list includes 30 honorees in various industry, representing 23 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region.
The rigorous selection process
From more than 2,000 online nominations, 500 semi-finalists were shortlisted and evaluated by the judges, leaving 300 finalists.
According to Forbes, the criteria considered in the selection for honorees include their demonstration of leadership, impact and potential of success in their industry and how they embody the entrepreneurial spirit that is synonymous with Forbes. In addition, other factors played an important role in making the judges’ final decision such as innovation, disruption and the size and growth of the venture.
“The Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list this year highlights daring entrepreneurs who are building businesses mostly to solve problems in their industries,” said Rana Wehbe, Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia editor.
Coming from three different industries: media, retail, and social entrepreneurship, the four Filipinos on the list were:
Earl Patrick Forlales and Zahara Halabisaz Zanjani
Co-founders of Cubo Modular, a company that designs and constructs bamboo houses in a span of four hours. The pair aims to solve accommodation issues in the Philippines with low-cost modular homes made up of bamboo.
In 2018, the founders won £50,000 as prize money from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors for their designs.
An entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, and a former guidance counsellor, this 28-year old CEO, founded Fetch! Naturals, an all-natural premium pet care brand that only uses natural ingredients in its product, in 2016.
Today, Fetch! Natural products are available in over 30 locations in the Philippines and have two retail locations in Manila and Los Angeles.
Founder of Monolith Growth Ventures, a performance marketing firm established in 2016. This young CEO grew the company into a multi-million peso business in just a year, and currently serves some of the world’s biggest brands, including The Boston Consulting Group, Fitness First, Sonos and Klipsch.
Launched in 2016, the first ‘30 under 30 Asia’ list included 10 Filipinos. A year after, five more were added, then six in 2018. This years’ four successful Filipino finalists made the total number to 25.
