PCUP To Launch Privilege Card To Urban Poor Communities

As Urban Poor needs the good public services and supplication, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) impulses the Privilege card provision to the urban poor communities in the country.

Privilege Card, ready to be set

On the pat Job Caravan held at Navotas Sports Complex, PCUP Chairperson/CEO Alvin Feliciano said that the plan of commission in providing the urban poor Privilege card is expected to propose in the month of September 2019.

Almost 30 million of urban poor communities in the Philippines are the target population of the PCUP to the said provision of Privilege Card.

According to Feliciano, the commission continuously processing the provision of Urban Poor Privilege Card, same as what privilege card of the senior citizens have.

Feliciano added that the Privilege Card will not only be manifested on Memorandum of Agreement but this will also be brought to the Congress so this will be empowered by the law.

“Hindi mo kailangang maging 60 years old o PWD para ng ganitong programa [privilege card]”, said by the PCUP Commissioner and Spokesperson Norman Brillantes Baloro last week.

This Urban Poor Privilege Card will help those considered poor for giving discounts and other benefits allocated in some products and services.

“Makatutulong itong plano naming privilege card for the poorest or the poor na kahalintulad sa card ng mga senior citizen, maari rin itong makapagbigay ng 10 porsiyentong discount sa mga gasolinahan.” alleged by Feliciano.

PCUP: Grab associate in service

Aside from giving the Privilege Card to the urban poor, PCUP takes memorandum of agreement with Grab Philippines to offer 10,000 jobs to drivers from urban poor communities.

According to Brian Cu, Grab PH President, “As we continue to grow, offer new services, and delight more customers, we are humbled that we are in a rather unique position to influence inclusive growth across multiple sectors, and do our part to ease poverty in the urban communities.”

Grab PH will be part of the PCUP Caravan offering jobs in Metro Manila, Baguio City, Pampanga, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao City, and Cagayan de Oro.
