Senator Manny Pacquiao got on the wrong foot of Senator Cynthia Villar when he tried to make the lady senator sign the draft resolution that supports the leadership of their colleague Senator Tito Sotto.
A draft resolution has been signed by 14 senators who announced their support on Sotto, which is more than half off the members of the current sitting senators in the Senate now.
Those who signed are Senators Gringo Honasan, Ping Lacson, Grace Poe, Loren Legarda, Win Gatchalian, Chiz Escudero, Manny Pacaquiao, Koko Pimentel, Nancy Binay, Migz Zubiri, Sonny Angara, Joel Villanueva, Ralph Recto, and Richard Gordon.
Leave me out of that
In an attempt to add more signatures, Pacquiao tried to get Villar of the Nationalista party to sign the resolution. However, instead of receiving just a simple “No” from Villar, he got a full load of anger from Villar.
According to her, Sotto should be the one asking for signatures. If he did so, then there wouldn’t be a rift between the senators. She also cleared to them that they should keep her off of their squabbles.
“Ayusin niyo yung kapartido niyo. Wag niyo akong idadamay sa away niyo. Bakit hindi kausapin ni Sotto yung mga kapartido niyo, matapos ang gulo niyo. Ba’t ako isasali niyo doon sa away niyo?”
According to GMA news, the story behind this is that some senators are saying that several of the newly elected senators under the partylist PDP-Laban haven’t even signed the resolution yet, they are waiting or the final verdict of the committee chairmanship.
Likewise, Villar said she won’t sign the resolution until she knows the committee chairmanship of her partymates Senators Pia Cayetano and Imee Marcos.
“Bakit ako pipirma dyan? Kung ipapahamak yung aking kapartido, ako nakapirma dyan? Hihintayin ko na maayos si Pia at Imee.”
