“Gazini Ganados has big shoes to fill since she is succeeding Catriona Gray, who brought home the Miss Universe 2018 crown to become the Philippines’ fourth winner in the prestigious pageant.”

But despite all the pressure, Gazini shared that she was comforted knowing that she has everyone’s support including Catriona’s.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News early Monday morning, Ganados shared what Gray whispered to her on stage while she was crowning her as the new Miss Universe Philippines.

“She just encouraged me that this will be the start, this will be a new beginning.” She said.

Will it be a back to back win this year?

Ganados promised to do her best to represent the Philippines and to make her “kababayans” proud!

She said that she will be training for a walk that would suit her best and will work on her physical appearance and the most especially the Q&A.

With her Latina looks, Ganados believe that it’s not all about the physical appearance. She stated that it is usually what your heart says.

Ganados, who was raised by a single mother, said that she developed a closer relationship with her grandparents and this inspired her to bring awareness on how important elderlies are.

Women rights

“If I win the crown tonight, what I do is to promote my advocacy. My advocacy is for us women to fight for our rights and for the elderly women and for us to know that someone is loving us, someone is pushing us to whatever ambitions that we have,” she said.

Before joining Binibining Pilipinas, Gazini was Miss Cesafi in 2016, Miss Bohol 2017 first runner-up, and was a Miss World Philippines 2014 contestant.

The question remains: will Gazini follow in Catriona’s footsteps and bring home a back-to-back win for the Philippines?
