The bereaved husband of Rosanna Ugto meets face to face, the suspect of the hit-and-run incident in Marcos Highway at Antipolo last week.
Cry Of Anguish
The widowed-man Mark Joseph Belen, can’t help but shed tears of anguish as he finally met with the suspect Adrian King Carlos, the reckless driver who “hit and run” him and her live-in partner Rosanna Ugto while driving along Marcos Highway, last Tuesday, March 26 at around 1:20 AM.
The incident was taken by a dash cam which went viral on social media, showing how a Honda Accord Sedan driven by Carlos slowed down at the back of the victims’ motorcycle, cutting in on the right, and then hitting them with the car’s left rear side. Speeding all the way without even stopping or looking back at the victims.
The driver together with the back ride was thrown from the motorcycle to the ground. Which resulted to the driver, Belen, suffered from serious leg injuries, while the back ride, Ugto, suffered from a head injury and fell into a coma, before dying last Friday, March 29.
All An Accident
Three days after the incident, a 29-year old Farm Manager, named Adrian King Carlos surrendered to the Pasig City Police, explaining that what happened was an accident, as he was trying to avoid a pothole. According to his sworn statement, he was not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, he was just unaware that he had run over a motorcycle. However, Belen’s camp is not convinced of Carlos’ statements.
Not Ready To Forgive
The suspect is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, damage to property and serious physical injuries. While Carlos’ side atones for contributing to the hospital bills and funeral expenses, the victim’s family is not acceding to an amicable settlement.
While waiting for the resolution from the Prosecutor’s Office, Carlos is now under Police custody. While there’s a high chance of this case being a bailable crime, Belen’s camp is looking into the possibility of elevating the charge to murder after Ugto’s death.
