In a press conference today, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno called out the private individual for its food truck which serves free lugaw during Manila City Hall flag raising ceremony on Monday at the Liwasang Bonifacio Shrine. The issue lies in the anti-epal program of Moreno. The said food truck bears the words “Kusina ni Isko” and faces of the Manila city mayor and vice-mayor.
An Appeal To The Private Donor
Moreno appeals to the donor of the truck to remove his face and name on the said vehicle. He then insists on changing the name instead. Last week, Moreno suggested removal of politician’s names to public and private school grounds and hospitals in place of the anti-epal program in Manila.
Twitter netizens called out Mayor Isko Moreno regarding the private truck wherein the latter quickly responded,
“Netizens have a point on this one. Nakisuyo na po ako sa nag-donate po ng food truck na huwag na lang ilagay ang mukha at pangalan ko. Siguro ilagay na lang po nila “Kusina ng Maynila” o kaya “Kusina para sa Batang Maynila.”
He then promised,
“Next flag ceremony, wala na po iyan.”
No Government Funds Used
On today’s press briefing, Manila mayor Isko clarified that no government money was spent on the food truck. However, it is a donation from a private individual.
“Doon sa nag-sponsor, thank you very much. It’s not government money, it’s not City of Manila’s money. Private individual.”
Although Moreno is thankful enough for the effort and initiative, he still insists on removing his face and name printed on the truck. Apart from that, he encourages to change the name to a more generalized one.
Mayor Isko, still, appreciates the good intention from the private donor.
“Siguro inspired lang sa atin, wanted to extend help. But they may have good intentions, maganda naman, napapakinabangan naman.”
“Pero may kaunting epal du’n eh,”
