Amazing students Keith Russel Cadores, Joscel Kent Manzanero, and Eugene Rivera astonished the world as they received the honor of having minor planets named after them in recognition of their achievement as top award winners in a science exhibition in the United States
The famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Lincoln Laboratory has named asteroids discovered by their laboratory in honor of high school students who excel at science competitions since 2001.
Keith, Joscel, and Eugene have proved that they can soar high and excel as they bagged the award at the Intel ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair. The world’s largest pre-college science competition – a program of the Society for Science and the Public.
The young scientists
Our very own young scientists who bring home pride and success, Keith Russel Cadores, Joscel Kent Manzanero, and Eugene Rivera, are students from Camarines Sur National High School in Naga City.
The trio placed second in the “Energy: Physical” category for their design and development of solar-tracking Arduino-rooted photovoltaic panels. As a recognization, each received a certificate identifying their very own minor planet and an orbital plot showing its current location.
The study that brings “The Three Minor Planets”
“The study aimed to improve the power harvesting and generating capacity of photovoltaic cells by designing and building a solar device that mimics a flower opening when the sun is out, tracks the sun’s movement, closes when the light source is no longer detected and responds to humidity and temperature to maximize power generation,” – the abstract of their study reads.
What would you feel if you are Keith, Joscel, or Eugene? You’ve got a priceless treasure that can be pass from your generations to your generations? – Who are not proud of these three young scientists?
